Jhathavedh Subramanyan IPL 2027 Stats: Wickets, Price, Team
Jhathavedh Subramanyan IPL stats tell an unusual story. He is a Hong Kong-born leg-spinner who won an IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the 2024 auction and has not played a single IPL match since. That gap is not down to a lack of form. In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Premier League season he finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets, and in the 2023 TNPL final he bowled the spell that won Lyca Kovai Kings the title.
His route to Indian domestic cricket was anything but ordinary. Born in Hong Kong, educated in England, and once the Hong Kong Under-19 captain, Subramanyan moved to Chennai in 2021 to chase a professional career in India. Three years later he was on the books of an IPL franchise. This page covers his verified IPL record, his auction history, his domestic numbers, and his IPL 2027 team and price status.

Who Is Jhathavedh Subramanyan?
Jhathavedh Subramanyan was born on 16 September 1999 in Hong Kong to Indian-origin parents. He completed his schooling and university education in the United Kingdom and made his first-class debut for Durham MCCU against Middlesex on 7 April 2018. Before that, he captained the Hong Kong Under-19 team and took a five-wicket haul against Oman in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup qualifiers.
He entered Hong Kong’s senior set-up in 2019, making his List A debut against Canada in Namibia on 20 April 2019 during the ICC World Cricket League Division Two. An injury had ruled him out of the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier the year before. Seeking a bigger stage, he moved to Chennai in 2021, where he trained under former India leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, who had been mentoring him since 2016.
His first TNPL stint with the Madurai Panthers brought no playing time, but Lyca Kovai Kings picked him up in the 2023 TNPL auction on the recommendation of their captain Shahrukh Khan. He took 11 wickets in 9 matches that season and saved his best for the final, returning 4/21 to seal the title and the Player of the Match award. Profiles have also noted that he can bowl left-arm finger spin in addition to his stock leg-break, an ambidextrous touch that is rare in professional cricket.

He shared that dressing room with senior internationals including Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, as well as India’s T20 core from the squad.

Jhathavedh Subramanyan’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse yet, which makes his domestic curve the real story. Subramanyan’s numbers have moved in the right direction: 11 wickets in 9 matches in his first full TNPL season in 2023, then a 2026 campaign in which he took 14 wickets at a sub-15 average and finished among the tournament’s top four bowlers. An economy rate under 7 across 35 TNPL matches shows control, and his 2023 final spell shows he can deliver when the game is on the line.
Why has the IPL debut not come? The simple, verifiable answer is opportunity. Sunrisers carried established spin options through 2024 and an uncapped overseas-origin wrist spinner is a development pick, not a first XI pick. His case for 2027 rests on a narrow, repeatable skill: leg-spin that turns the ball sharply, a deceptive googly, and the rarity of a wrist spinner who can also bowl left-arm spin. If a franchise wants a cheap squad leg-spinner with recent form, Nitish Kumar Reddy‘s franchise and others in the market will have his name on their shortlists when the auction shortlist is drawn up.
