Ben Duckett’s IPL story is one of the most unusual on the league’s books. The England left-hander was one of the most successful T20 batters in the world yet to play in the IPL, and that finally changed in December 2025 when the Delhi Capitals bought him for ₹2 crore at the IPL 2026 Player Auction in Abu Dhabi. For a brief moment, a Ben Duckett IPL debut looked certain. Then, days before the 2026 season began, Duckett withdrew from the tournament to prioritise his England career, triggering a reported two-season ban under IPL regulations. As a result, his Ben Duckett IPL stats column remains completely blank: zero matches, zero runs, and no registered highest score or best bowling figures.
This page records everything verifiable about Ben Duckett’s IPL journey so far: his auction signing with Delhi Capitals, the verified price and date, the reason for his withdrawal, what the reported suspension means for his IPL 2027 status, and his wider T20 profile from reliable sources. Where facts could not be confirmed, it says so plainly.

Who Is Ben Duckett?
Ben Duckett is an England international batter born on 17 October 1994. He is a left-handed top-order player who opens the batting for England in white-ball cricket and has also established himself in the Test side. In domestic and franchise cricket, Duckett built his reputation on aggressive stroke play against both pace and spin, which made him one of the most sought-after uncapped-by-IPL T20 batters in world cricket for years.
His overall T20 numbers underline why franchises chased him: across 218 T20 matches he has scored 5,426 runs at a strike rate of 140.24, with a highest score of 96 and 34 half-centuries. In England’s colours he has crossed fifty in T20 internationals and is a central figure in the Trent Rockets setup in The Hundred, helping them win the title in 2022. He has also played in Australia’s Big Bash League. Despite this pedigree, the IPL came late to him: he went through several auction cycles without a contract before Delhi Capitals finally signed him in December 2025.
Ben Duckett IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | — | Not in the IPL |
| 2025 | — | Not in the IPL |
| 2026 | Delhi Capitals | Bought at auction for ₹2 crore; withdrew before the season |

Duckett’s entire IPL team history is a single entry: Delhi Capitals in 2026. The franchise signed him at the Abu Dhabi auction in December 2025 as a left-handed top-order option, viewed in some reports as cover for the departing Harry Brook. Duckett never wore the shirt in a competitive match, announcing his withdrawal from the squad just days before the tournament began. A late replacement for the role was later sourced in Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka, who was signed at the same auction.
Ben Duckett IPL 2024 Stats
Ben Duckett did not play in IPL 2024. He was not part of any franchise squad that season, so no batting or bowling figures exist for him.
Ben Duckett IPL 2025 Stats
Ben Duckett did not play in IPL 2025. He remained outside the league and had still never featured in the IPL when the 2026 auction approached.
Ben Duckett IPL 2026 Stats
Ben Duckett did not play a match in IPL 2026 despite being under contract with Delhi Capitals. The left-hander was bought for ₹2 crore (approximately £241,000, per the ECB) at the IPL 2026 Player Auction in Abu Dhabi on 16 December 2025, in the same round of business that brought David Miller and Auqib Nabi to the franchise.
With the season four days away, Duckett withdrew from the tournament. He explained that he wanted to be in the best possible place physically and mentally for England’s summer, apologising to the Capitals management and supporters for the disruption. Because he made himself unavailable after being picked at auction, reports noted that IPL Player Regulations 2025–27 carry a two-season suspension for an overseas player who withdraws before the season without a valid reason such as injury or international commitments.
Ben Duckett IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. What is confirmed about Duckett’s 2027 position is negative: following his withdrawal from IPL 2026, he faces a reported two-season ban from the tournament and the auction, which would rule him out of the 2027 and 2028 seasons. No official team, price, or role exists for him in 2027.
Ben Duckett IPL 2027 Team and Price
Ben Duckett has no confirmed IPL 2027 team and no confirmed price. He is reported to be serving a two-season suspension after his pre-season withdrawal from Delhi Capitals in 2026, which means he cannot be bought, retained, or traded into any franchise squad for 2027 under current regulations. If that reported status changes through an official announcement, it will be updated here.

Ben Duckett IPL Batting Records

Ben Duckett IPL Auction Price History
| Season | Team | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Delhi Capitals | ₹2 crore | Auction (December 2025, Abu Dhabi) |
This is the only confirmed IPL auction entry on Duckett’s record. He was never previously picked up by an IPL franchise despite entering the auction pool in earlier years. He was bought outright by Delhi Capitals — not traded and not retained — and then withdrew before playing, so no retention or trade history exists for him.
Ben Duckett IPL Records and Achievements
There are no IPL records or achievements to list: Duckett has not played a match in the league. His notable non-IPL franchise achievement is the 2022 Hundred title with the Trent Rockets, where he has been a mainstay opener since the competition’s early seasons.
Ben Duckett’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse yet, so the honest assessment focuses on what his signing — and his withdrawal — tell us. Delhi’s ₹2 crore bid was a clear statement of intent: the Capitals wanted a proven international opener who attacks spin, and at that price Duckett represented one of the value picks of the December 2025 auction. He joined a squad led by Axar Patel alongside senior batters such as KL Rahul, David Miller, and Harry Brook.
The withdrawal changed everything. Choosing England’s Test summer over a maiden IPL season cost Duckett not just the 2026 campaign but, under the reported two-season rule, any chance of an IPL appearance before 2029. His IPL chapter therefore remains unwritten rather than closed: a 31-year-old with a T20 strike rate north of 140 will attract interest again if he becomes eligible, but for now the numbers column stays empty and the price history shows a single auction line.
