Manav Suthar’s IPL story is still in its early chapters, but the spinner from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan has already given Gujarat Titans plenty of reasons to keep him around. A slow left-arm orthodox bowler with a sharp cricketing brain, Suthar first caught the eye as a net bowler during the Titans’ title-winning 2022 campaign before earning a contract at the IPL 2024 auction. His IPL debut on 4 May 2024 was a moment he will never forget: his first delivery in the league was bowled to his childhood idol, Virat Kohli, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Titans have shown unusual patience with Suthar. After one appearance in 2024, they bought him back for ₹30 lakh at the 2025 mega auction, retained him for the same amount in 2026, and then gave him four games in the 2026 season, where he picked up his first two IPL wickets. His numbers are modest so far: 2 wickets from 5 matches at an average of 47.00. But beyond the IPL, his rise has been steep, with a celebrated Test debut for India in 2026. This page brings together Manav Suthar’s complete IPL stats, his price history, team record, and what is known about his IPL 2027 status.

Who Is Manav Suthar?
Manav Suthar was born on 3 August 2002 in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He is a left-arm orthodox spinner who bats left-handed in the lower order, and he is best described as a bowling all-rounder. His father, Jagdish Kumar Suthar, supported his cricket from an early age as he worked his way up from tennis-ball cricket to Rajasthan’s age-group and senior teams.
Suthar’s first-class record is what built his reputation. Before his international debut he had taken 129 wickets from 29 first-class matches at an average of 25.76, including a seven-wicket haul for India C against India D in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. In June 2026 he made his Test debut for India, dismissing Afghanistan’s Abdul Malik with the fourth ball of his debut and finishing with a six-wicket haul in the innings, which earned him the Player of the Match award. In the IPL, however, he remains a developing player: Gujarat Titans value his long-term potential far more than his current five-match record suggests.

He has never played for any other IPL franchise, and whether the Titans keep him again for 2027 will only be known once the retention lists and auction details are announced.

Suthar’s only IPL 2024 appearance came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 4 May 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He was asked to bowl the third over of the innings and ran in to his idol Virat Kohli with his first ball in the IPL. He finished with 0 for 26 from two overs and scored 1 run from 2 balls with the bat before being dismissed. It was a quiet debut, but bowling to Kohli first up made it a memory he has spoken about warmly since.
Manav Suthar IPL 2025 Stats
Suthar did not play a single match in IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans had bought him back at the 2025 mega auction for ₹30 lakh, but he spent the season on the bench as the franchise preferred its established spin options. No official batting or bowling figures exist for him from IPL 2025.

He claimed his maiden IPL wicket against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 24 April 2026, dismissing captain Rajat Patidar and finishing with 1 for 19. Two days later he took 1 for 22 against Chennai Super Kings, accounting for Dewald Brevis. His final outing of the season, against Punjab Kings on 3 May 2026, was a harsh one: he conceded 27 runs in a single over and did not play again that season. He did not get to bat in 2026 but held two catches in the field.

Manav Suthar IPL Career Batting Stats

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1.00 | 50.00 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Suthar has barely batted in the IPL. His only innings came on debut in 2024, when he scored 1 run from 2 balls against RCB. He did not bat at all in his four IPL 2026 appearances. He is a capable lower-order batter in domestic cricket, but in the IPL he has been used almost entirely as a bowling option.
Manav Suthar IPL Career Bowling Stats
| Matches | Innings | Overs | Runs | Wickets | BBI | Avg | Econ | SR | 4w | 5w |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 4 | 8.0 | 94 | 2 | 1/19 | 47.00 | 11.75 | 24.0 | 0 | 0 |
Across five IPL matches, Suthar has bowled just eight overs and taken two wickets. His career average of 47.00 and economy of 11.75 reflect how little he has bowled and how tough his outings were, particularly the 27-run over against Punjab Kings in 2026. His strike rate of 24.0 balls per wicket is a fairer hint of his wicket-taking ability in the chances he did get.

Manav Suthar IPL Auction Price History
| Season | Team | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Gujarat Titans | ₹20 lakh | Bought |
| 2025 | Gujarat Titans | ₹30 lakh | Bought (mega auction) |
| 2026 | Gujarat Titans | ₹30 lakh | Retained |
Suthar’s price history tells the story of a franchise investing in potential. He was bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹20 lakh at the 2024 auction, bought back for ₹30 lakh at the 2025 mega auction even though he did not play that season, and then retained for ₹30 lakh ahead of 2026. Note that his 2026 deal was a retention, not a new purchase: the Titans chose to keep him rather than send him back into the auction.
Manav Suthar’s IPL Performance Analysis
Five matches across three seasons is too small a sample for sweeping judgments, and Suthar’s IPL numbers need that context. His 2024 debut was a learning experience more than a statement. The 2025 season, when he did not play at all, could have ended his association with the franchise; instead, the Titans’ decision to buy him back and then retain him showed how highly they rate his domestic work.
The 2026 season offered the first real look at Suthar in league action, and it was a mixed bag. The positives were clear: two wickets in three bowling innings, including the prized scalp of Rajat Patidar, and tidy figures of 1 for 19 against RCB. Working in a spin unit led by Rashid Khan and alongside fellow left-arm spinner R. Sai Kishore gave him experienced company to learn from. The negatives were equally clear: an economy rate of 11.33 and one very expensive over against Punjab Kings that ended his run in the side.
The honest reading is that Suthar is still a project at IPL level. His domestic record, with 129 first-class wickets before his India debut, and his immediate impact in Test cricket suggest the raw material is there. Whether that turns into an IPL career depends on getting more overs, likely in situations that suit his style. For now, his standing with the franchise is his strongest asset: three seasons of faith from Gujarat Titans and senior seamer Mohammed Shami watching from the other end is the kind of backing young spinners rarely get.
