Pyla Avinash IPL 2027 Stats: Runs, Price, Team
Pyla Avinash is one of the few names on the Punjab Kings roster whose IPL statistics page is still blank. The right-handed batter from Visakhapatnam arrived in the league through a ₹30 lakh base-price deal at the 2025 mega auction, earned a retention for 2026, and is still waiting for his first IPL cap. His story is not unusual: many young Indian power hitters spend their first seasons on the bench while franchises watch their domestic numbers. Avinash’s numbers in the Andhra Premier League explain why Punjab Kings bought him. An unbeaten 105 off 58 balls in APL 2024, featuring five sixes in a single over, put him on the radar of IPL scouts, and a 96 off 39 balls in APL 2025 confirmed the hitting ability was not a one-off. His Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy debut in November 2024 also produced an instant half-century. As of 18 October 2026, Pyla Avinash has played 0 IPL matches, so every batting and bowling figure on his IPL record is blank by definition. His IPL 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed, since the season has not started and the retention decisions are yet to be announced.
What makes him worth tracking is the profile: a middle-order batter who bats right-handed, bowls occasional right-arm medium-fast, and grew up idolising Ricky Ponting — the same Ponting who coached Punjab Kings in 2025. Franchises keep such players for years and then back them suddenly. Until that debut comes, this page covers his verified IPL journey season by season, his full domestic T20 record, and the auction history that brought him into the league.

Who Is Pyla Avinash?
Pyla Avinash was born on 7 July 2000 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He picked up cricket at the age of 13, inspired by his elder brother Charan Tej, and his father Pyla Satya Rao worked as an electrician before moving to Dubai in 2005 to support the family financially. Avinash’s childhood cricketing idol was Ricky Ponting, the aggressive Australian captain whose style he tried to copy at the crease.
His senior domestic career began only in the 2024-25 season. He made his first-class debut for Andhra in the Ranji Trophy that winter, and his T20 debut arrived on 29 November 2024 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Maharashtra — an innings of 55 off 39 balls that announced him immediately. The real breakthrough, though, had come earlier in the Andhra Premier League. Representing the Bezawada Tigers in APL 2024, Avinash hammered an unbeaten 105 off 58 balls at a strike rate of 181, a knock in which he struck five sixes in a single over. That innings went viral within Andhra cricket circles and put him firmly on the IPL radar.
In APL 2025 he was the most expensive pick at the auction, fetching ₹11.5 lakh for the Royals of Rayalaseema, and he opened his season with 96 off 39 balls (11 sixes) against the Vijayawada Sunshiners. He bats right-handed and, according to his profile listings, also bowls right-arm medium-fast, though he has not bowled in official T20 matches so far. Across his domestic T20 career to date he has 198 runs in 13 matches at an average of 18.00 and a strike rate of 116.47, with one half-century.
Pyla Avinash IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | None | Not in the IPL; no contract |
| 2025 | Punjab Kings | Squad member, bought at base price, 0 matches played |
| 2026 | Punjab Kings | Retained at ₹30 lakh; no IPL debut through the season |
| 2027 | Not officially confirmed | Season not started; retention decisions not announced |
Avinash’s IPL journey is entirely with Punjab Kings. He was one of five Andhra players picked up in the 2025 mega auction, and the franchise kept him on for 2026 at the same ₹30 lakh figure. Among Punjab’s young Indian batting group, he sits alongside Priyansh Arya and Nehal Wadhera, both retained as part of the franchise’s rebuilt Indian core. Whether the franchise retains him a third time for 2027 will be confirmed only when the official retention list is announced.
Pyla Avinash IPL 2024 Stats
Pyla Avinash did not hold an IPL contract in 2024. He was not part of any franchise squad and played no IPL matches. His first senior domestic season — the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy for Andhra and the 2024 Andhra Premier League — was unfolding while the 2024 IPL was being played.
Pyla Avinash IPL 2025 Stats
Punjab Kings bought Pyla Avinash at the IPL 2025 mega auction for his base price of ₹30 lakh. He spent the entire 2025 season in the squad but did not play a single match. His 2025 IPL figures are therefore blank.

The bench role was not a surprise. Punjab Kings reached the IPL 2025 final under captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting, and their top order was settled for most of the campaign, which left little room for an uncapped 24-year-old specialist batter. Avinash’s task in 2025 was development: training in the IPL environment, learning from Ponting’s coaching setup, and staying ready. After the season he returned to domestic cricket, playing for Andhra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in December 2025 with scores of 20, 13, 18, 44 and 20.
Pyla Avinash IPL 2026 Stats
Punjab Kings retained Pyla Avinash for IPL 2026 at ₹30 lakh. According to available reports, including Wisden’s May 2026 coverage, he had still not made his IPL debut by the end of that period — his senior IPL record stood at 0 matches. Any 2026-season appearances beyond that point are not confirmed by available reliable sources.

Pyla Avinash IPL Records and Achievements
Pyla Avinash’s IPL achievements are currently limited to squad selection and retention. He was one of five Andhra Pradesh players bought in the 2025 IPL mega auction, and Punjab Kings’ decision to retain him for 2026 at the same price marked the franchise’s faith in his domestic power-hitting. His notable achievements in cricket so far include:
- 105 not out off 58 balls for Bezawada Tigers in the 2024 Andhra Premier League, including five sixes in a single over
- 189 runs in five matches in APL 2024 at a strike rate of 142.10
- Most expensive player at the APL 2025 auction (₹11.5 lakh) for the Royals of Rayalaseema
- 96 off 39 balls with 11 sixes in APL 2025 against the Vijayawada Sunshiners
- 55 off 39 balls on T20 debut for Andhra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 29 November 2024
- First-class debut for Andhra in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy
Pyla Avinash’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse yet, and that is itself the most honest thing to say about Avinash’s first two seasons. What can be analysed is the franchise’s behaviour: buying him at base price in 2025 and retaining him in 2026 at the same figure, while a player like Glenn Maxwell — bought for ₹4.2 crore the same cycle — was released after one season. Punjab Kings essentially paid the minimum for a young power hitter and then decided he was worth keeping, which suggests his value was visible in training and nets rather than on the field.
The domestic numbers explain the interest. A strike rate above 140 in the 2024 APL season, five sixes in an over, and an instant SMAT fifty show a batter with genuine ball-striking ability against spin-heavy Indian domestic attacks. The counterpoint is his overall domestic T20 record — 198 runs in 13 matches at an average of 18.00 — which is modest and shows he has yet to turn talent into consistent production at state level. He is listed as an occasional right-arm medium-fast bowler but has not bowled in official T20s, so that dimension is untested.
The path to an IPL debut likely runs through the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. If Avinash can lift his domestic consistency into the 2026-27 season, he gives Punjab Kings a cheap Indian middle-order option — the exact profile franchises prize under salary-cap constraints. Until then, his IPL page remains a story of potential rather than performance.
