Prashant Solanki IPL 2027 Stats: Wickets, Price, Team
When Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals went into a bidding war for an uncapped Mumbai leg-spinner at the IPL 2022 mega auction, few had heard of Prashant Solanki. CSK won him for Rs 1.2 crore, a big sum for a player who had been their net bowler only months earlier. The price tag came from one standout performance: a five-wicket haul on List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which had put the young wrist-spinner firmly on the scouting radar.
Reality, though, is that Solanki’s IPL career has been short on actual game time. He played just two matches in his debut season, picked up two wickets, and has not bowled a single ball in the tournament since 2022. CSK kept him in the squad for two more seasons without giving him a game, released him, and he went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction before Kolkata Knight Riders picked him up for Rs 30 lakh ahead of IPL 2026. This page covers his complete IPL record, team and price history, and what is known about his IPL 2027 status.

Who Is Prashant Solanki?
Prashant Hitesh Solanki, born 22 February 2000 in Mumbai, is an Indian leg-break bowler who began his domestic career with Mumbai before switching to Maharashtra. He is an old-school wrist-spinner who relies on flight and turn, with the googly as his main variation, and he pairs that with a handy lower-order batting game.
Solanki first made headlines in the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he took a five-wicket haul on his List A debut for Mumbai. He followed that with a solid Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign the same season, which earned him a stint as a net bowler with Chennai Super Kings in 2021. Impressed by what they saw up close, CSK took him into the mega auction and fought off Rajasthan Royals to sign him.
Prashant Solanki IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | Chennai Super Kings | Bought at auction (Rs 1.2 crore) |
| 2023 | Chennai Super Kings | Retained (Rs 1.2 crore) |
| 2024 | Chennai Super Kings | Retained (Rs 1.2 crore) |
| 2025 | – | Unsold at mega auction |
| 2026 | Kolkata Knight Riders | Bought at auction (Rs 30 lakh) |
| 2027 | Not officially confirmed | Retention/auction status pending |
Solanki’s IPL journey has been about potential rather than playing time. CSK invested Rs 1.2 crore in him and held on to him for three full seasons, yet he only got on the field in 2022. During those seasons he shared the dressing room with senior pros like MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Rachin Ravindra and Mustafizur Rahman. After two seasons as an unused squad member, he was released, found no takers in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and then restarted at KKR for Rs 30 lakh in 2026, where he again stayed on the bench through the season.

Solanki did not play a single match for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 despite being retained on a Rs 1.2 crore contract. With Ravindra Jadeja, Maheesh Theekshana and Mitchell Santner covering the spin duties, there was simply no gap in the playing XI for a developing leg-spinner.

Prashant Solanki’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is an honest limit to what the numbers can say about Prashant Solanki’s IPL career: two matches and six overs is not a sample, it is a snapshot. What the snapshot shows is mildly encouraging. An economy rate of 6.33 in a debut season, in a year when spin was generally expensive, suggests a bowler who was not overawed by the stage, and two wickets in two games is a reasonable return for a bowler used in short spells.
The more telling data is off the field. Chennai kept him for three years on a Rs 1.2 crore deal, which shows the coaching staff rated his net-bowling work and potential highly enough to keep investing a squad slot. But rating potential and trusting a youngster in a playoff race are different things, and with established spinners ahead of him at both CSK and KKR, he never got the run of games that turns potential into a record.
At KKR he faces the same wall: Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy are near-undroppable. For Solanki, the realistic path forward is a strong domestic season with Maharashtra, wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and hoping the 2027 auction brings a franchise that needs a leg-spinner in its first XI rather than as depth.
