Avanish Rao Aravelly IPL stats begin, for now, as a story without a match behind them. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Telangana was one of the youngest buys of the IPL 2024 auction, with Chennai Super Kings paying his ₹20 lakh base price weeks after he had kept wicket for India at the Under-19 World Cup. Three seasons later, he is still waiting for his first IPL appearance. This page gathers every confirmed detail of his league journey: the auction buy, the 2024 season spent without a game, the release ahead of the 2025 mega auction, and where he stands ahead of IPL 2027.
Avanish bats left-handed in the middle order and keeps wicket for Hyderabad in domestic cricket, where his List A record already includes a hundred. What CSK saw in him was explosive youth form — most famously a 163 off 93 balls against Bangladesh in an Under-19 quadrangular series. The IPL 2027 season has not started, so his 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed. Below is the full verified record of his IPL career so far.

Who Is Avanish Rao Aravelly?
Avanish Rao Aravelly was born on 2 June 2005 in Pothugal, Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana, and plays domestic cricket for Hyderabad. He started at the HMV Cricket Academy at nine and rose through the Hyderabad age-group sides, hitting 183 against Chennai in the Vijay Merchant Trophy and later captaining Hyderabad Under-19. He was part of India’s squad at the 2024 Under-19 World Cup, where the team reached the final.
His name travelled further after a remarkable innings for India-A against Bangladesh in an Under-19 quadrangular series: 163 off 93 balls with 12 sixes, in a successful chase of 376. He made his senior debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Hyderabad against Services on 29 November 2023. His List A record so far stands at 9 matches, 242 runs at an average of 30.25 with a highest score of 100, along with 10 catches and 4 stumpings behind the stumps. He is uncapped at senior international level, and his parents Lakshman Rao and Sushma have been widely reported as the backbone of his cricketing journey.
Avanish Rao Aravelly IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Chennai Super Kings | Bought at auction — ₹20 lakh; no matches played |
| 2025 | – | Released by CSK; unsold at the mega auction |
| 2026 | – | No confirmed squad; no matches played |
| 2027 | – | Not officially confirmed |
Avanish’s franchise journey so far is a single season on the books. CSK bought him at his base price in the December 2023 auction — a youth investment made alongside bigger signings such as fellow uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi — but he never made the matchday XI. When CSK cleared out 19 players ahead of the 2025 mega auction in a full squad rebuild, Avanish was among those released. He went unsold at that auction and has not been on an IPL squad since, though he remains a young uncapped option for future auctions.

There are no Avanish Rao Aravelly IPL 2024 stats to analyse because he did not play a single match. CSK’s keeping and batting slots were occupied all season, and the teenager spent the campaign learning at close quarters — an experience he later described as a dream come true, having grown up wanting to play under MS Dhoni. His purchase price stayed at the ₹20 lakh base figure he was bought for.

The 2025 mega auction reset his IPL path. Released by CSK with most of the 2024 squad, Avanish entered the auction pool but went unsold, meaning he had no team and therefore no 2025 season numbers. For an 18-19-year-old uncapped keeper this is a common route — one season in the system, back to domestic cricket to push his case again.

Avanish Rao Aravelly IPL Records and Achievements
No IPL records or achievements yet. His achievements to date are outside the league: a place in India’s 2024 Under-19 World Cup squad, the Hyderabad Under-19 captaincy, a List A hundred for Hyderabad, and that 163 off 93 balls against Bangladesh at Under-19 level.
Avanish Rao Aravelly’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse in the statistical sense, and inventing trends from zero matches would be dishonest. What the record does show is a franchise taking a calculated punt on a teenager’s hitting ability and keeping skills, then moving on in a rebuild. CSK’s 2024 season offered him the environment — training under Dhoni, watching a title-winning setup — but no game time, which is the norm rather than the exception for uncapped keepers bought at base price.
The pattern from here is familiar and unforgiving. His one real shop window was the December 2023 auction, where youth and the 163 against Bangladesh were fresh. Since then, the visible part of his case rests on Hyderabad domestic returns, where a List A hundred at 30.25 already gives him something concrete. Young Indian wicketkeeper-batters are always in auction demand, but they need recent runs at senior level to convert that demand into a bid. Whether the 2027 auction brings him back into the league depends on what he produces in the next domestic season — nothing on his IPL record so far answers that question either way.
