Bevon Jacobs entered the IPL when the Mumbai Indians signed him for ₹30 lakh at the 2025 mega auction, yet his IPL story remains one of promise rather than playing time. The New Zealand batter never got a game in the 2025 season, was released by Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline, and found no buyers at the 2026 auction. That leaves the 24-year-old as one of the more intriguing young names still waiting for an IPL debut — a power-hitting middle-order batter whose domestic record in New Zealand screams T20 potential, but who has not yet stepped onto an IPL field.
Jacobs first caught the eye of franchise scouts in August 2024, when he smashed a 40-ball hundred for South Brisbane in Queensland’s T20 Max competition. Weeks later, Mumbai Indians — a franchise with a reputation for spotting emerging talent — raised the paddle for him at the mega auction. Despite spending the 2025 season in a squad led by Hardik Pandya and featuring Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah, he never made the playing XI. This page covers his full IPL record so far, his auction price history, and where he stands ahead of IPL 2027.

Who Is Bevon Jacobs?
Bevon John Jacobs was born on 6 May 2002 in Pretoria, South Africa, and moved to New Zealand with his family when he was three years old. He grew up in Auckland, learned his cricket from his father, and first made headlines as a teenager when he scored 178 for Sydenham Cricket Club against Old Boys Collegians — the highest individual score in the history of the Christchurch Metro competition.
He made his senior domestic debut for Canterbury in the 2023–24 season, announcing himself in T20 cricket with 42 off 20 balls on debut against Auckland. Before the 2024–25 season he shifted base to Auckland, and celebrated his first-class debut by striking twin half-centuries (75 and 79) against Wellington at the Basin Reserve. His domestic T20 form peaked in early 2026, when he reeled off five consecutive fifties (78*, 88*, 53, 54 and 55), equalling Devon Conway’s New Zealand record for the most successive fifties in men’s T20 cricket.
At international level, Jacobs earned a New Zealand T20I call-up for the series against Sri Lanka in early 2025 before making his actual T20I debut against South Africa at Harare on 16 July 2025. He also spent a stint with MI Emirates and has been picked for a short-term BBL assignment with Brisbane Heat in December 2026 as a replacement for Tom Curran. His T20 game is built on clean power hitting and finishing ability in the middle order.
Bevon Jacobs IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | – | Not part of the IPL |
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | Bought at mega auction; did not play a match |
| 2026 | – | Released by Mumbai Indians; unsold at auction |
| 2027 | Not confirmed | Season not started |
Jacobs’s only IPL association to date is his single season on Mumbai Indians’ books in 2025. After the franchise chose not to retain him ahead of the IPL 2026 retentions, he re-entered the auction pool but went unsold, so he has not been part of any IPL squad since.
Bevon Jacobs IPL 2024 Stats
Jacobs was not part of the IPL in 2024. His breakthrough in franchise cricket came later that year in Queensland’s T20 Max tournament, which put him on the radar of IPL scouts ahead of the 2025 mega auction.

Bevon Jacobs IPL 2025 Stats
Mumbai Indians bought Jacobs for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction, selecting him alongside fellow New Zealanders Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner in their squad. It was a classic Mumbai scouting pick — a young, explosive middle-order batter bought at base price. However, with an experienced batting core in place, he did not feature in a single match during the 2025 season, finishing the campaign with no IPL appearances.

Bevon Jacobs IPL 2026 Stats
Jacobs did not have an IPL team in 2026. Mumbai Indians released him ahead of the retention deadline, listing him among the players they let go, and he went unsold at the IPL 2026 auction — the only New Zealand batter of the 2025 Mumbai intake not to attract a bid. He therefore played no IPL cricket in 2026.

Bevon Jacobs IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. Jacobs currently has no IPL team. His 2027 status will depend on the auction cycle — whether any franchise bids for him, and at what price. This section will be updated once his 2027 team and price are confirmed.
Bevon Jacobs IPL 2027 Team and Price
No IPL 2027 team or price is confirmed for Jacobs. His last IPL contract was the ₹30 lakh deal with Mumbai Indians for the 2025 season. He was released by Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2026 retentions and went unsold at the 2026 auction, so he enters the 2027 cycle as a free agent. Any 2027 deal would be a fresh auction purchase, not a retention.

Bevon Jacobs IPL Highest Score
Jacobs has not played an IPL match, so he has no IPL highest score. For context, his standout domestic T20 scores include a 40-ball hundred for South Brisbane in Queensland’s T20 Max competition in 2024 and a 20-ball 42 on his senior T20 debut for Canterbury in December 2023.
Bevon Jacobs IPL Batting Records
Jacobs holds no IPL batting records, having never appeared in an IPL match. His notable T20 records come from domestic cricket in New Zealand, where his five consecutive fifties in early 2026 equalled Devon Conway’s national record for the most successive fifties in men’s T20s.
Bevon Jacobs IPL Auction Price History
| Season | Team | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | ₹30 lakh | Bought at mega auction (base price) |
| 2026 | – | – | Released by Mumbai Indians; unsold at auction |
| 2027 | Not confirmed | – | Season not started |
The 2025 purchase was a base-price mega auction buy — Mumbai’s typical low-risk investment in an emerging overseas batter. After one season without a game, the franchise released him before the IPL 2026 retentions, and no franchise picked him up at the 2026 auction.
Bevon Jacobs IPL Records and Achievements
Jacobs has not yet played in the IPL, so his achievements to date come from domestic and international cricket:
- Scored 178 for Sydenham Cricket Club in 2021 — the highest individual score in Christchurch Metro competition history.
- Struck twin half-centuries (75 and 79) on his first-class debut for Auckland against Wellington in November 2024.
- Smashed a 40-ball hundred for South Brisbane in the Queensland T20 Max competition in 2024, the innings that put him on IPL scouts’ radar.
- Recorded five consecutive T20 fifties in early 2026, equalling Devon Conway’s New Zealand record for successive fifties in men’s T20 cricket.
- Made his New Zealand T20I debut against South Africa at Harare on 16 July 2025.
Bevon Jacobs’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse in the conventional sense — Jacobs has zero matches, zero runs and zero wickets in the league. What can be analysed is the shape of his IPL journey so far: bought as a low-cost developmental pick by a franchise famous for unearthing talent, never trusted with a game in a star-heavy batting order, then released when the franchise tightened its squad.
That pattern is common for uncapped overseas batters at Mumbai Indians — the squad’s overseas slots are fiercely contested, and a 22-year-old with no international experience was always going to be a project rather than a first-choice player. His release ahead of 2026 and his failure to attract a bid at the 2026 auction suggest franchises want to see more before investing an overseas slot in him.
The counter-argument sits in his domestic numbers. A T20 strike rate built on genuine power, five fifties in a row at the top of Auckland’s order, and a New Zealand T20I cap since 2025 make a reasonable case that the talent Mumbai spotted is real. His short-term BBL stint with Brisbane Heat in December 2026 — as a replacement for Tom Curran — gives him a fresh stage in a major T20 league. A strong Big Bash, combined with continued Super Smash form, could put him back in the IPL auction conversation for 2027. Until then, his IPL page remains a waiting room rather than a record book.
