Lizaad Williams IPL 2027 Stats: Wickets, Price, Team
Lizaad Williams arrived in the IPL through the side door. When Harry Brook withdrew from the 2024 season, Delhi Capitals turned to the South African quick as a late replacement, and Williams got two matches to show what his right-arm pace could do at this level. One wicket from six overs was a modest return, but the franchise door stayed open: Mumbai Indians spent ₹75 lakh on him at the 2025 auction, only for a knee injury to wipe out his entire season before a ball was bowled. That is the story of his IPL career so far — brief, interrupted, and still unwritten.
For readers searching Lizaad Williams IPL stats, the honest picture matters more than inflated numbers. This page lays out his verified IPL record: two matches, one wicket, a best of 1/38, and a batting line that reads one not out. It also tracks his team history from Delhi to Mumbai, the injury that cost him 2025, and where he stands heading into IPL 2027, with every figure checked against official and established sources.

Who Is Lizaad Williams?
Lizaad Williams is a South African fast bowler born on 1 October 1993, a right-arm medium-fast operator who bats left-handed down the order. He has been a domestic workhorse at home, playing first-class and franchise cricket for Boland, the Cape Cobras and the Titans, and he has represented South Africa in Tests, ODIs and T20Is since his international debut in 2021. His international highlights include a wicket with the first ball of his ODI career against Ireland and a three-wicket haul on Test debut against Bangladesh.
In T20 leagues beyond the IPL, Williams has been a regular wicket-taker. He led the Joburg Super Kings attack in the SA20’s 2024 season with 15 wickets in nine matches at an average of 16.53, including a best of 4/26, and he has since turned out for the Pretoria Capitals and in the Lanka Premier League with the Jaffna Kings. That league form is what keeps IPL franchises interested, even though his IPL sample size remains tiny.
Lizaad Williams IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Delhi Capitals | Replacement signing | ₹50 lakh |
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | Auction buy; ruled out injured, replaced by Corbin Bosch | ₹75 lakh |
| 2026 | — | Released by MI ahead of auction; no confirmed IPL team | — |
| 2027 | Not officially confirmed | Season not started | Not officially confirmed |
Williams has worn two IPL shirts without ever establishing himself in either. Delhi brought him in mid-season 2024 as cover for Harry Brook, and Mumbai’s ₹75 lakh auction bid a year later showed real intent — but the knee injury that ended his 2025 campaign before it began means he has still never played a match in Mumbai blue. Released by Mumbai ahead of the 2026 auction, he entered 2026 without an IPL contract, and his next route back depends on the auction or a mid-season replacement call.
Lizaad Williams IPL 2024 Stats
| Format | M | Inn | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ | SR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bowling | 2 | 2 | 6.0 | 72 | 1 | 1/38 | 72.00 | 12.00 | 36.00 |
| Format | M | Inn | NO | Runs | HS | Avg | SR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Batting | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1* | — | 50.00 |
Two matches is barely a sample, and the numbers show it. Williams bowled six overs across his two Delhi appearances, conceding 72 runs for a single wicket — an economy rate of 12.00 that tells you batters went after him. His solitary scalp came with figures of 1/38. His outings came in a Delhi side built around Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel, and he followed a familiar South African route into that setup, where fellow Proteas quick Anrich Nortje had already spent several seasons leading the pace attack. For a bowler signed as emergency cover, the outing was a learning experience rather than a breakthrough, and Delhi did not retain him beyond that season.
Lizaad Williams IPL 2025 Stats
Lizaad Williams played no matches in IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians bought him at the auction for ₹75 lakh, but a knee injury ruled him out before the tournament began and Corbin Bosch replaced him in the squad. His season figures are therefore blank: 0 matches, 0 wickets, 0 runs.
Lizaad Williams IPL 2026 Stats
Mumbai Indians released Williams ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, and he has no confirmed IPL appearances in the 2026 season. His career totals remain those of his two 2024 outings for Delhi: 2 matches, 1 wicket. Any 2026 numbers attributed to him elsewhere refer to other competitions, such as the SA20 or the Lanka Premier League, not the IPL.
Lizaad Williams IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. Williams’s 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed. This section will be updated once the retention lists, trades, or auction results for IPL 2027 are announced.
Lizaad Williams IPL 2027 Team and Price
As of this writing, neither his IPL 2027 team nor his price has been officially confirmed. He was released by Mumbai Indians before the 2026 auction, so his most likely routes back into the league are the 2027 auction or a mid-season replacement signing, the same mechanism that brought him into the IPL with Delhi in 2024. Watch the official retention and auction announcements for confirmation.
Lizaad Williams IPL Career Batting Stats
| M | Inn | NO | Runs | HS | Avg | SR | 100s | 50s | 4s | 6s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1* | — | 50.00 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Williams is a specialist bowler and his IPL batting record reflects it: a single unbeaten run from two balls faced across two matches. No boundaries, no milestones — batting was never going to be his route into an IPL XI.
Lizaad Williams IPL Career Bowling Stats
| M | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ | SR | 4w | 5w |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 6.0 | 72 | 1 | 1/38 | 72.00 | 12.00 | 36.00 | 0 | 0 |
The bowling figures are the whole of his IPL career so far: one wicket in six overs at an average of 72.00 and an economy of 12.00. Those numbers come with a heavy caveat — two matches, both as a late replacement, is not enough cricket to judge a bowler who has taken 15 wickets in nine SA20 games at 16.53 in the same era.
Lizaad Williams IPL Stats by Year
| Season | Team | Mat | Inns | Runs | HS | Avg | SR | 50s | 100s | Wkts | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Delhi Capitals | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1* | — | 50.00 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 12.00 |
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | 0 | 0 | 0 | — | — | — | 0 | 0 | 0 | — |
| 2026 | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — |
| 2027 | Not confirmed | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — |
The table makes the pattern obvious: one short stint in 2024, a lost season to injury in 2025, and no IPL cricket since. His career line has been frozen at two matches for two years, which is why any 2027 comeback would effectively be a fresh start.
Lizaad Williams IPL Highest Score
Lizaad Williams’s highest IPL score is 1 not out, from his two-ball stay at the crease for Delhi Capitals in 2024. As a tail-ender who bats left-handed, he has never been asked to contribute with the bat in the IPL, and that is unlikely to change.
Lizaad Williams IPL Wickets and Best Bowling
Williams has taken 1 IPL wicket in his career, with best bowling figures of 1/38 for Delhi Capitals in 2024. He bowled six overs in total across his two appearances, conceding 72 runs. His strike rate of 36.00 and average of 72.00 underline how little he has actually bowled in the league — a full IPL season for a frontline quick would typically mean 40-plus overs.
Lizaad Williams IPL Batting Records
There are no meaningful IPL batting records to list for Williams. In two matches he has faced two balls and scored one unbeaten run, with no fours, sixes, fifties or hundreds.
Lizaad Williams IPL Auction Price History
| Season | Team | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Delhi Capitals | ₹50 lakh | Replacement signing for Harry Brook |
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | ₹75 lakh | Auction buy; ruled out with knee injury, replaced by Corbin Bosch |
| 2026 | — | — | Released by MI; auction outcome not officially confirmed |
| 2027 | Not confirmed | Not officially confirmed | Season not started |
The price history is short but telling. Delhi’s ₹50 lakh replacement fee in 2024 was a low-risk punt on a late arrival. Mumbai’s ₹75 lakh auction bid a year later was a genuine vote of confidence — a 50 percent jump in value — which makes the injury that followed all the more frustrating for both player and franchise.
Lizaad Williams IPL Records and Achievements
Williams’s IPL record is thin on achievements, which is itself the honest headline: 2 matches, 1 wicket across three seasons on IPL books. His real achievements sit outside the league — 15 wickets in nine SA20 2024 matches as the Joburg Super Kings’ leading wicket-taker, an ODI debut wicket with his first ball for South Africa, and a three-wicket haul on Test debut. Those are the numbers that explain why IPL teams keep giving him a look.
Lizaad Williams’s IPL Performance Analysis
The analysis here has to be about trajectory rather than totals, because the totals are two matches old. What stands out is the gap between his league reputation and his IPL output. In the SA20 he has been a genuine strike bowler; in the IPL he has bowled six overs at 12 an over. The 2025 knee injury is the hinge of his story — without it, he would have had a full season in Mumbai blue alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult to either prove himself or be found out.
His release before the 2026 auction reset him to the open market, and at 33 he is now in the experienced-overseas-quick bracket where franchises shop for reliability rather than potential. The path back is clear enough: strong domestic and league form, then an auction bid or a replacement call. Until then, his IPL page remains a two-game cameo with an asterisk for what might have been.
