Few IPL careers have swung as far as Rajat Patidar’s. Bought for ₹20 lakh in 2021, released after a quiet debut season, unsold at the 2022 mega auction, then signed back mid-season as an injury replacement — he responded with one of the great playoff innings in league history. A little over three years later, he lifted the IPL trophy as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s captain, then lifted it again. This page brings together Rajat Patidar’s IPL stats: 1,612 runs in 57 matches, that unbeaten 112, back-to-back titles as skipper, his full price history, and where he stands ahead of IPL 2027.
Through IPL 2026, Patidar has been an RCB player in every season he has played. He missed 2023 entirely through injury, was retained at ₹11 crore ahead of both the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and captained the side to its maiden title in 2025 and a successful title defence in 2026. IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started.
Rajat Patidar has led Royal Challengers Bengaluru since 2025 and captained the franchise to back-to-back IPL titles.

Who Is Rajat Patidar?
Rajat Patidar was born on 1 June 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. A right-hand batter who bowls part-time off-spin, he has represented Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket since 2015, scoring a century on his first-class debut. His domestic breakthrough came in the 2022 Ranji Trophy final, where his century against Mumbai helped Madhya Pradesh win their maiden title after a 69-year wait.
Patidar made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021. His international debuts followed his IPL rise: an ODI debut for India against South Africa in December 2023 and a Test debut against England in February 2024. RCB named him captain in early 2025, succeeding Faf du Plessis, and he became the fourth Indian and eighth overall captain of the franchise. He led Madhya Pradesh to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final in 2024-25 as well, finishing that tournament as the second-highest run-scorer with 428 runs at an average of 61.14.

His strike rate of 177.13 was the highest he had managed in a full IPL season, and five fifties from 15 games confirmed he belonged in the middle order. Thirty-three sixes to 21 fours showed a batter who had added real power to a game once built mainly on timing and placement.

Statistically, 2025 was his quietest full season — 312 runs at 24.00, third in RCB’s run charts behind Virat Kohli (657) and Phil Salt (403). But it was the season that changed his legacy. In his first year as captain, Patidar steered RCB to their first IPL title in 18 years, beating Punjab Kings in the final, with Krunal Pandya‘s Player of the Match performance sealing the result. RCB also became the first team in IPL history to win all their away matches in a season. Patidar’s two fifties came against Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, and his calm leadership was widely credited for the title run.

His standout knock was a 33-ball 93* against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala, which powered RCB to 254/5, the highest total ever posted in an IPL playoff game. Rajat Patidar’s IPL Performance Analysis
The numbers tell a story of delayed arrival followed by rapid ascent. The 2021 season (71 runs at 17.75) looked like the end of his IPL story — he was released and went unsold. The 2022 replacement spell flipped it: 333 runs at 55.50 with the playoff century that made him undroppable. After the lost year of 2023, his 2024 return (395 runs at a strike rate of 177.13) showed a batter who had added power without losing placement.
2025 looks like a dip on paper (312 runs at 24.00), but context matters: it was his first season as captain, and the leadership load coincided with RCB’s most successful campaign ever. In 2026, batting and captaincy clicked together — 501 runs at 41.75 with 192.69 strike rate while defending the title. The trend across five seasons is a batter whose strike rate has climbed from 114 to 192, whose six-hitting (110 career sixes against 106 fours) now defines his game, and who saves his best for knockout cricket. Team-mates such as Jitesh Sharma and Tim David handle the finishing; Patidar’s role is to control the middle overs and accelerate against both spin and pace.
