Robin Minz has one of the most unusual journeys of any young player in the Indian Premier League. Bought by Gujarat Titans for 3.6 crore rupees in the 2024 auction, the wicketkeeper-batter from Ranchi never played a single ball that season after a motorcycle accident days before the tournament began. Mumbai Indians picked him up for 65 lakh rupees at the 2025 mega auction, and on 23 March 2025 he finally made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, becoming the first tribal cricketer to play in the league. His returns so far have been modest: 12 runs in four matches across 2025 and 2026. But Minz is only 24, and his domestic form for Jharkhand in 2025-26 suggests the power-hitting that made franchises bid for him is still very much intact.
So where does Robin Minz stand ahead of IPL 2027? This page brings together his verified IPL statistics, his price history, the teams he has represented, and what is confirmed about his 2027 status with Mumbai Indians.

Who Is Robin Minz?
Robin Minz is an Indian wicketkeeper-batter from Ranchi, Jharkhand, born on 13 September 2002. A left-handed power-hitter, he came through Jharkhand age-group cricket and made a name for himself in local T20 tournaments in Ranchi, where his ability to clear the ropes at will earned him the nickname “Chris Gayle of Ranchi”. He made his senior debut for Jharkhand in late 2023.
Minz is uncapped at the international level. His historic significance goes beyond the numbers: when Gujarat Titans bought him in the December 2023 auction, he became the first Adivasi (tribal) cricketer ever signed in the IPL. That breakthrough season was wiped out by injury, but Mumbai Indians believed in the talent and signed him a year later. In domestic cricket, his 2025-26 season was a genuine breakout: 166 runs at a strike rate of 162.75 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite 2025 and 377 first-class runs for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy Elite 2025-26, including a hundred (115) against Odisha in January 2026.
Robin Minz IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Gujarat Titans | Auction, 3.6 crore rupees; missed entire season through injury |
| 2025 | Mumbai Indians | Auction, 65 lakh rupees; IPL debut |
| 2026 | Mumbai Indians | Retained, 65 lakh rupees |
| 2027 | Mumbai Indians | Retention not officially confirmed |
Minz’s franchise story has two clear chapters. Gujarat Titans spent big on him in December 2023 after tracking him in domestic and trial games, but a motorcycle accident in Ranchi just before IPL 2024 started ruled him out for the whole season. Released by Gujarat, he went back into the 2025 mega auction pool in Jeddah, where Mumbai Indians won a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings to sign him for 65 lakh rupees. He has been with the five-time champions ever since, and was retained for IPL 2026 on the same price. With Ryan Rickelton as the first-choice keeper in the MI XI, Minz has mostly served as the backup option in the squad.
Robin Minz IPL 2024 Stats
Minz played no matches in IPL 2024. He was bought by Gujarat Titans for 3.6 crore rupees but was ruled out before the season began after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident. Gujarat replaced him in their squad, and his debut had to wait a year.
Robin Minz IPL 2025 Stats
| Mat | Inns | Runs | HS | Avg | SR | 4s | 6s |

| 2 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 3.00 | 40.00 | 0 | 0 |
His debut season with Mumbai Indians brought just two appearances. He opened his account with 3 off 9 balls against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on 23 March 2025, then made 3 off 6 against Gujarat Titans on 29 March. Batting down the order in a star-heavy MI lineup, he faced 15 balls all season. The numbers show little, but simply getting onto the field made him the first Adivasi cricketer to appear in the IPL, and MI kept him in their plans beyond 2025.
Robin Minz IPL 2026 Stats
| Mat | Inns | Runs | HS | Avg | SR | 4s | 6s |

Retained by Mumbai Indians for 65 lakh rupees, Minz again featured in just two games in 2026. He made 1 off 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 29 April and 5 off 3 against Chennai Super Kings on 2 May, striking at 150 for the season after the slow start in 2025. Two seasons, four matches, twelve runs: the IPL returns remain thin, but his domestic numbers in 2025-26 (a 162.75 strike rate in the SMAT Elite) kept his name in the conversation as a power-hitting reserve.
Robin Minz IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. Mumbai Indians must submit their retained and released player lists by 15 November 2026, and the mini-auction is scheduled for December 2026 in Goa. As of 16 October 2026, the franchise has not announced its retention list, so Robin Minz’s IPL 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed. Some media outlets have speculated that he could be released given his limited IPL output, but that is speculation, not a confirmed decision. His last confirmed contract is his 65 lakh rupee retention by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2026.
Robin Minz IPL 2027 Team and Price
Robin Minz’s IPL 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed. He remains a Mumbai Indians player under his 2026 contract until the retention announcements are made. The official IPL website will publish confirmed retention lists after the 15 November 2026 deadline. Given the mini-auction format, franchises are expected to keep most of their core squads and only fill specific gaps, so the next few weeks will decide whether Minz continues with the Mumbai Indians into IPL 2027.

Robin Minz IPL Highest Score
Robin Minz’s highest IPL score is 5, made off 3 balls for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on 2 May 2026. His only other IPL innings are 3 off 9 and 3 off 6 in 2025, and 1 off 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2026. With four IPL innings and no score above 5, his batting record at this level is still waiting for its first meaningful knock.
Robin Minz IPL Batting Records

His notable mark is a historic first rather than a statistical one: he is the first Adivasi cricketer to play in the IPL, debuting for Mumbai Indians in March 2025. Among his domestic highlights, his 162.75 strike rate across the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite stands out as the form that franchises originally noticed.

Robin Minz’s IPL Performance Analysis
Four matches and twelve runs make Minz’s IPL record almost a blank page, and the numbers tell a straightforward story: he has never had a run of games. In 2025 he batted low down the order in two early-season fixtures and faced 15 balls; in 2026 he faced 4 balls across two matches. That is not enough cricket to judge a player by, and Mumbai Indians clearly see him as a development pick rather than a finished product.
The contrast with his domestic output is what keeps this story interesting. In the 2025-26 season Minz scored 166 runs at a strike rate of 162.75 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite and made 377 first-class runs for Jharkhand, including a 115 against Odisha. Franchises bid on that version of Robin Minz, the 20-year-old who cleared boundaries in Ranchi’s local tournaments. His ceiling depends on whether he gets a genuine stretch in an MI XI, likely only if the first-choice keeper is unavailable or the team rebalances its overseas slots. It is the same fight for limited domestic-player opportunities that young Mumbai Indians squad members like Shams Mulani, Shivalik Sharma and Romario Shepherd know well. The 2027 retention call, due by 15 November 2026, will show how the franchise reads those two competing data sets.
