Most Runs at Wankhede Stadium in IPL Record History
Rohit Sharma has been the top scorer at Wankhede for most of the last decade. He joined Mumbai Indians in 2011 and quickly made the ground his own. Season after season, his pull shots and cover drives piled up runs on this pitch. He crossed 2000 IPL runs at Wankhede long before any other batter, a mark no one else has touched.
Kieron Pollard held second place for many years with his finishing knocks. After he retired from the IPL, his tally stopped at 1226 runs. Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik have also retired from the IPL, so their numbers of 1008 and 855 are final. Suryakumar Yadav passed Pollard to take second place with his fearless 360 degree batting. By the start of IPL 2026 he already had 1395 runs at the ground, and he added 101 more during the season to reach 1496.
Rohit himself added 181 runs at Wankhede during IPL 2026, taking his total from 2451 to 2632. With every home season, he stretches a record that already looks out of reach for the current generation. Fans tracking bowling numbers can check the Wankhede wicket takers list as well.
What This Record Tells Us
This record is really a story of loyalty to one franchise. The top four names all made their name with Mumbai Indians and played most of their cricket at Wankhede. A settled home ground lets a batter learn every part of the outfield, and Rohit has turned that knowledge into more than 2600 runs.
The size of the gap matters too. Rohit leads Suryakumar Yadav by more than 1100 runs. That is a full career of home games for most players. It shows that topping a venue chart is not about one or two big seasons. It needs a decade of steady scoring at the same ground.
Wankhede itself plays a part. The short square boundaries suit pullers and cutters, which is exactly how Rohit and Pollard score. The true bounce lets batters trust their shots. Teams chasing under lights have often won here, which is why the ground has a reputation for big chases and last over finishes.
