Vicky Ostwal’s IPL story is an unusual one. Four seasons on an IPL contract, two different franchises, a championship medal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2026, and still no IPL debut. The left-arm spinner from Pune first entered the league in the 2022 mega auction, when Delhi Capitals picked him at his base price of Rs 20 lakh on the back of a breakout Under-19 World Cup. He spent three seasons in the Capitals’ setup without playing a single game, then joined RCB for Rs 30 lakh ahead of 2026 and sat out another full campaign while the franchise won its first title.
That does not mean the cricket world has stopped watching him. Ostwal was India’s leading wicket-taker at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup with 12 wickets at 13.33, including a five-wicket haul against South Africa, and he topped the 2024-25 CK Nayudu Trophy bowling charts with 69 wickets in nine matches. This page tracks Vicky Ostwal’s IPL stats, his teams, his auction price history, and his IPL 2027 team and price status.

Who Is Vicky Ostwal?
Vicky Ostwal is a slow left-arm orthodox spinner from Maharashtra who first came into the national spotlight during India’s victorious 2022 Under-19 World Cup campaign in the Caribbean. He finished that tournament as India’s leading wicket-taker and was named in the ICC’s Most Valuable Team of the tournament. Born in Pune, he grew up travelling long distances for cricket, training at the Vengsarkar Academy in Mumbai before shifting his base to Maharashtra’s setup.
His performances fast-tracked him into Maharashtra’s Ranji Trophy side. He made his first-class debut against Vidarbha in February 2022, his T20 debut against Meghalaya in October 2022 with figures of 2 for 9, and his List A debut against Mizoram in November 2022 with an impressive 4 for 29. The standout domestic season of his young career came in the 2024-25 CK Nayudu Trophy, where he took 69 wickets in just nine matches at an average of 13.34, recognition that followed at the BCCI Awards in 2026. He has described Ravindra Jadeja as his role model, and like Jadeja he has been working on his batting and fielding to become a more complete all-round option.

His return came at the IPL 2026 auction, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru bought him at his base price of Rs 30 lakh, and he earned a winner’s medal as part of the RCB squad that lifted the 2026 title.

Vicky Ostwal’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no IPL performance to analyse yet, which is itself the story. Ostwal has been judged good enough to hold an IPL contract in four different seasons but has never been picked ahead of the established spinners around him. At Delhi, the combination of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel left no gap in the XI. At RCB, the spin load fell on Krunal Pandya, Suyash Sharma, and the part-time options, with Ostwal again on the outside looking in.
What keeps his name in the mix is what happens below the IPL. His record in the CK Nayudu Trophy, 69 wickets in nine matches at 13.34, shows a bowler who can run through sides when given a spell. His left-arm orthodox style is a genuine asset in Indian conditions, and the years spent bowling to elite batters in IPL nets, most recently Virat Kohli at RCB, have developed his game sense beyond his years. He is 24 now, and the window for a spinner in the IPL can open quickly. A strong T20 season for Maharashtra, the kind where his economy and wicket-taking hold together in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, is the most direct route to finally getting that first cap. Until then, his IPL file remains a collection of contracts rather than statistics.
