Mohsin Khan IPL stats tell a story of a debut season that promised everything and a career since spent fighting injuries to live up to it: 38 wickets in 31 matches for Lucknow Super Giants, a breakout 2022 campaign of 14 wickets at under six runs an over, and a maiden five-wicket haul of 5/23 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2026 that reminded everyone what the tall left-armer can do when he is fit.
Few bowlers have had a louder IPL entrance. Picked up by LSG for his base price of ₹20 lakh at the 2022 mega auction after four wicketless years with Mumbai Indians, Mohsin walked straight into the XI and became one of the finds of the season, bowling powerplay and death overs for KL Rahul’s side. Then came the setbacks: shoulder surgery that wiped out most of 2023, and an ACL injury followed by a calf strain that ruled him out of the entire 2025 campaign. His 2026 comeback, capped by that five-for, was his best season since the debut year. The open question for his IPL 2027 season is whether the injuries are finally behind him.

Who Is Mohsin Khan?
Mohsin Khan was born on 15 July 1998 in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. A tall left-arm fast-medium bowler, he came up through the Uttar Pradesh age-group system and announced himself nationally in the 2018 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, taking 13 wickets in eight matches for UP. He made his List A debut in February 2018 and his first-class debut in January 2020.
The 2018 IPL auction earned him a Mumbai Indians contract at his base price of ₹20 lakh, and he spent four seasons in their set-up training alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga without playing a single game. Released ahead of 2022, he was signed by the new Lucknow Super Giants franchise for the same base price — and this time he got his chance. He made his IPL debut on 28 March 2022 against Gujarat Titans. His official IPL profile lists him as a Lucknow Super Giants bowler.

Mohsin is a one-franchise player in playing terms — every one of his 31 IPL matches has come for Lucknow. The franchise bought him for ₹20 lakh at the 2022 mega auction, then retained him as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore ahead of the 2025 mega auction, a sign of how highly the team management rated him even as injuries interrupted his career. He shared LSG dressing rooms across these seasons with the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis and fellow pace prospect Mayank Yadav.

The 2024 comeback season was brave but expensive. Returning from the shoulder surgery that had nearly ended his career, he played 10 matches and took 10 wickets, but his economy of 10.13 showed a bowler still rediscovering rhythm and confidence. His best performance, 2/29 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and a first-ball dismissal of Rachin Ravindra against Chennai Super Kings were glimpses of the 2022 version. He dismissed well-set batters like Shikhar Dhawan and Sunil Narine across the campaign.

Mohsin did not play a single match in IPL 2025. An ACL injury kept him out of cricket for three months, and just as he was recovering he suffered a calf strain while bowling in the LSG nets. The franchise replaced him in the squad with Shardul Thakur. It was a bitter outcome: he had been retained for ₹4 crore as an uncapped player only months earlier, and he watched the entire season from the sidelines.

The 2026 comeback was his strongest season since the debut year. In just seven matches he took 11 wickets at 20.73 and an economy of 8.14 — and delivered the defining spell of his IPL career: 5/23 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Lucknow on 26 April 2026, his maiden five-wicket haul and the best bowling figures of his career. He also returned 2/17 against Rajasthan Royals. Operating around the 140 kph mark with his skiddy left-arm pace, he looked sharp again with the new ball. LSG had kept him on at ₹4 crore, and the wicket tally justified that faith.

Mohsin Khan IPL Wickets and Best Bowling
Mohsin has 38 IPL wickets from 31 matches at an average of 24.13 and an economy of 8.41. His best figures, 5/23 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Lucknow on 26 April 2026, were his maiden IPL five-wicket haul and the best bowling figures of his career. Before that, his benchmark was the 4/16 against Delhi Capitals in 2022 that capped his breakthrough season.
His most famous single performance came in 2023, when he returned from shoulder surgery to defend 11 runs in the final over against Mumbai Indians, conceding just five and sealing a dramatic one-run win for LSG. Fourteen of his 38 wickets came in his debut 2022 season; 11 came in the 2026 comeback.

Mohsin’s salary graph reflects promise priced on potential: five seasons at his ₹20 lakh base price, then a jump to ₹4 crore as an uncapped retention ahead of the 2025 mega auction, renewed for 2026. LSG made that call despite his injury record — a 20-times jump for a player who would then miss the entire 2025 season. The 2026 comeback was his first chance to repay it.
Mohsin Khan IPL Records and Achievements
- Maiden IPL five-wicket haul: 5/23 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow, 26 April 2026 — the best bowling figures of his IPL career.
- Breakout 2022 season: 14 wickets in 9 matches at an economy of 5.97, among the best bowling returns by an LSG bowler that season, including 4/16 against Delhi Capitals.
- Defended 11 runs in the final over against Mumbai Indians in 2023, conceding five, to seal a one-run win for LSG weeks after returning from shoulder surgery.
- 13 wickets in 8 matches in the 2018 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Uttar Pradesh — the domestic form that earned him his first IPL contract.
Mohsin Khan’s IPL Performance Analysis
The numbers split Mohsin’s IPL career into two distinct phases. In 2022 he was genuinely one of the best-value bowlers in the tournament: 14 wickets in 9 games at 14.07 and an economy of 5.97, trusted with the tough overs. Then injuries took almost three years: a shoulder problem that nearly cost him his career (5 matches in 2023), a wicket-hunting-but-expensive 2024 (10 wickets at 10.13 an over), and a completely lost 2025.
The 2026 season is why LSG kept him. In 7 matches he took 11 wickets at 20.73 with an economy of 8.14 — his best average since 2022 — and the 5/23 against KKR showed the skiddy left-arm pace and new-ball movement are still there. If the pattern holds, a fit Mohsin is a frontline IPL quick; the career question has never been talent, only whether his body lets him bowl. His 2027 value will turn almost entirely on one thing: staying available.
