Rajan Kumar IPL stats tell an unusual story. The left-arm fast bowler from Uttarakhand has an IPL contract history with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but he has never played a single IPL match. RCB bought him for Rs 70 lakh at the IPL 2023 auction after he finished as Uttarakhand’s leading wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23. He spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons on RCB’s books without making his debut, was released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and went unsold at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. His IPL columns read zero matches and zero wickets because he never took the field.
Then, in January 2026, came the news that put his career on hold. The National Anti-Doping Agency provisionally suspended him after a dope test came back positive for banned substances, as reported by PTI. His last competitive outing had been the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 for Uttarakhand in December 2025. With the IPL 2027 season yet to begin, there is no confirmed team or price for him, and his league future depends on how the doping matter is resolved. This page covers his verified IPL journey, auction prices, domestic record, and 2027 status.

Who Is Rajan Kumar?
Rajan Kumar was born on 8 July 1996 in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. He is a left-arm medium-fast bowler who bats left-handed and represents Uttarakhand in domestic cricket. His rise began with a strong first domestic season in 2022-23. He made his T20 debut on 11 October 2022 against Railways in Rajkot and his List A debut on 12 November 2022 against Odisha in Mumbai.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23, he was Uttarakhand’s leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 5.88. He carried that form into the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23, taking six wickets in five innings at an economy of 4.40. His domestic breakthrough continued in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24, where he picked up his maiden List A five-wicket haul, 5 for 28 against Bihar. He made his first-class debut for Uttarakhand against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 and took six wickets in four innings. As of March 2024, his T20 career stood at 32 wickets in 26 innings, including one four-wicket haul.
Rajan Kumar IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Bought for Rs 70 lakh; did not debut |
| 2024 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Retained for Rs 70 lakh; yet to play |
| 2025 | No franchise | Released by RCB; unsold at mega auction (base Rs 30 lakh) |
| 2026 | No franchise | No official record of a contract or appearance |
Rajan Kumar’s only IPL association has been with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB signed him at the IPL 2023 auction and, under IPL retention rules, kept him for the 2024 season at the same Rs 70 lakh price. He was released in RCB’s pre-2025 clean-out, which also moved on several established names, and found no takers when the hammer came down at the mega auction in November 2024.
Rajan Kumar IPL 2024 Stats
Rajan Kumar did not play a single match in IPL 2024. RCB retained him at Rs 70 lakh, but the pace attack had more experienced options, and the left-arm seamer never got a game. Spending two full seasons with a franchise without an appearance is rare, and it says something about how hard it is to break into a settled bowling group at the top level. He gained experience bowling to senior batters in the RCB nets during this period.
Rajan Kumar IPL 2025 Stats
Rajan Kumar played no IPL cricket in 2025. After being released by RCB, he entered the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh and went unsold. The 2025 season therefore passed without any IPL appearance for the Uttarakhand pacer.
Rajan Kumar IPL 2026 Stats
Rajan Kumar has no recorded IPL appearances in the 2026 season. Available records carry no franchise contract or match for him in 2026, so his IPL figures for the season are zero matches and zero wickets.
Rajan Kumar IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. As things stand, there is no confirmed team or price for Rajan Kumar for IPL 2027. His availability is also clouded by the NADA provisional suspension reported in January 2026, which remains the dominant fact in his cricketing status. Any numbers for 2027 will only exist once the season begins and if he is cleared and signed.
Rajan Kumar IPL 2027 Team and Price
There is no announced IPL 2027 team or price for Rajan Kumar. The only franchise he has been attached to is RCB, who released him ahead of the 2025 mega auction. He went unsold at that auction and has not played an IPL match to date. Until the doping matter is officially resolved and a franchise signs him, his IPL 2027 team and price remain not officially confirmed.

At the IPL 2023 auction, RCB signed him for Rs 70 lakh after a bidding contest with KKR that pushed the price up from his Rs 20 lakh base, according to Cricbuzz’s auction tracker. Rajan Kumar IPL Records and Achievements
Rajan Kumar holds no IPL records, having never appeared in the league. His notable domestic achievements include finishing as Uttarakhand’s leading wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23 with 10 wickets, and his maiden List A five-wicket haul of 5 for 28.
Rajan Kumar’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no on-field IPL performance to analyse, since Rajan Kumar’s match count stands at zero. The numbers tell a different kind of story instead. He was a classic auction punt on domestic form: a left-arm quick with a good yorker and a habit of bowling in the powerplay, bought at Rs 70 lakh after one strong Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign. RCB valued him enough to retain him for a second season, yet he never dislodged the established quicks. Fellow RCB pacers such as Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal took the new-ball roles, and the coaching staff never felt the need to blood an untested seamer in a campaign chasing results.
Release followed, as it does for most uncapped players who cannot force their way in, and the market agreed with RCB’s assessment at the 2025 mega auction. The deeper problem is that he has now gone two full IPL seasons without a team and has the NADA matter hanging over him. His realistic route back runs through domestic cricket first: wickets for Uttarakhand, a resolved suspension, and then a fresh auction entry.
