Akash Deep’s IPL career reads like a story of two formats. In Test cricket he is the seam bowler who took ten wickets in a match at Birmingham; in the Indian Premier League he is still waiting for his breakthrough. Bought for just Rs 20 lakh by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022, he has moved from RCB to Lucknow Super Giants and then to Kolkata Knight Riders, yet injuries and a modest white-ball record have kept him to 14 IPL matches and 10 wickets across five seasons. This Akash Deep IPL stats page breaks down every number: his season-by-season record, his auction prices, and what is known about his IPL 2027 situation.
The Bengal pacer’s IPL journey has never quite matched his red-ball pedigree. He arrived with a reputation for hard length and seam movement, took a best of 3/45 in his debut season, and was trusted with just one game in 2024. Then came the Rs 8 crore LSG deal in the 2025 mega auction, one of the standout sums for an Indian seamer, but a back injury and a costly return, three wickets in six matches at an economy over 12, made it a forgettable stint. KKR picked him up cheaply for IPL 2026, only for a lumbar stress injury to rule him out of the entire season before a ball was bowled.

Who Is Akash Deep?
Akash Deep is an Indian fast bowler from Dehri, Bihar, who plays domestic cricket for Bengal and Test cricket for India. He bowls right-arm fast-medium and bats right-handed down the order. After losing his father and elder brother in 2015, he moved to Bengal to rebuild his career, came through the U23 ranks, and made his senior Bengal debut in 2019. His rise was rapid: 35 Ranji Trophy wickets in 2019-20 helped Bengal reach the final, a ten-wicket haul against Haryana and a five-wicket haul in the 2023 Ranji semifinal pushed him into India A, and in February 2024 he made his Test debut for India against England at Ranchi. In July 2025 he produced a career-defining ten-wicket haul in India’s landmark Test win at Birmingham, finishing the series with 10 Tests and 28 wickets to his name.

Akash Deep spent his first three IPL seasons with RCB but played only eight games across 2022 to 2024. Released ahead of the 2025 mega auction, he was picked up by LSG for Rs 8 crore, a massive jump on his Rs 20 lakh RCB price that reflected his India Test form rather than his T20 record. After an injury-hit 2025, LSG released him and KKR bought him for his base price of Rs 1 crore at the December 2025 mini-auction. He was then ruled out of IPL 2026 with a lumbar stress injury and replaced in the squad by Saurabh Dubey.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3.3 | 55 | 1 | 55.00 | 15.71 | 1/55 |
Akash Deep’s final season at RCB was limited to a single appearance in IPL 2024, in which he conceded 55 runs in 3.3 overs for one wicket. With the franchise investing in overseas pace options, the Bengal seamer could not force his way into the side, and his release ahead of the mega auction became inevitable.

| Mat | Overs | Runs | Wkts | Avg | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 19 | 229 | 3 | 76.33 | 12.05 |
The 2025 season was supposed to be Akash Deep’s coming-out year in the IPL. LSG paid Rs 8 crore for him, but he missed the start of the campaign recovering from a back injury suffered on the Australia tour and joined the squad only in early April, at a time when the LSG attack was already stretched by injuries to pace partners like Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav. When he did play, the returns were poor: three wickets in six matches at an average of 76.33 and an economy of 12.05. His last appearance came against Gujarat Titans in May 2025, where he went wicketless for 49. With the bat he scored 6 runs, including a six off the only ball he faced against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Akash Deep IPL 2026 Stats
Akash Deep did not play a single match in IPL 2026. Bought by KKR for Rs 1 crore at the December 2025 mini-auction, he was ruled out of the entire season in March 2026 after failing to recover from a lumbar stress injury. A KKR official confirmed he was out of the tournament, and he underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru while the franchise signed Saurabh Dubey as his replacement. His IPL tally therefore stands unchanged at 14 matches and 10 wickets.

Akash Deep IPL Highest Score
Akash Deep’s highest IPL score is 17, made in 2023. As a specialist fast bowler who bats at the tail, he has only batted five times in 14 IPL innings and has never been asked to do much with the bat. His most eye-catching shot was a six off the only ball he faced against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2025.
Akash Deep IPL Wickets and Best Bowling
Akash Deep has taken 10 wickets in 14 IPL matches, with best bowling figures of 3/45. His most productive IPL season remains his debut year, 2022, when he took five wickets in five matches for RCB at an economy of 10.88. Across 2023, 2024 and 2025 he managed just five wickets in nine matches, a return that explains why franchises have been reluctant to back him as a frontline T20 seamer despite his Test success.
Akash Deep IPL Batting Records
Akash Deep holds no significant IPL batting records. His role in the league has been purely as a bowler, and his 25 career runs at a strike rate of 178.57 are a minor footnote to his bowling story.

Akash Deep IPL Records and Achievements
Akash Deep’s standout achievements have come in Test cricket rather than the IPL. His most famous performance was a ten-wicket haul in India’s landmark Test victory at Birmingham against England in July 2025, with career-best match figures of 6/99. He made his India Test debut against England at Ranchi in February 2024 and has taken 28 wickets in 10 Tests. In the IPL, his personal best remains the 3/45 he recorded in his debut season of 2022.
Akash Deep’s IPL Performance Analysis
The central tension in Akash Deep’s IPL record is the gap between his red-ball quality and his white-ball output. A bowler who hits the seam hard and holds his length, qualities that earned him a ten-wicket Test haul, has leaked 11.83 runs an over across his IPL career. Part of the story is opportunity: five of his 14 matches came in his debut season, and injuries have repeatedly interrupted his rhythm, most recently the lumbar stress injury that wiped out his entire IPL 2026. But part of it is also execution at the death and under T20 pressure, where his best season economy is 10.88. The Rs 8 crore LSG spent in 2025 was a bet on his Test form translating to T20, and it did not pay off. His KKR move at Rs 1 crore in 2026, into a squad with fellow Indian quicks Vaibhav Arora and Umran Malik plus all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, was sensible value until injury intervened. If he returns fully fit for IPL 2027, his seam and bounce give him a genuine chance to finally lock down an IPL role, but the numbers say he has to earn it.
