Mohit Rathee has one of the shortest yet most talked-about IPL careers of any uncapped Indian all-rounder. The Haryana leg-spinner played a single match in the tournament, on debut for Punjab Kings in April 2023, and walked off the field as part of IPL history after adding 55 unbeaten runs for the tenth wicket with Shikhar Dhawan. That stand remains the defining image of his time in the league. Since that night in Hyderabad, Rathee has been bought twice at auction, spent a full season on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bench in 2025, and was released again before IPL 2026. This page covers the complete Mohit Rathee IPL stats record: his debut numbers, auction price history, team timeline, and what is known about his IPL 2027 status.
Rathee’s story is a reminder of how thin the margin is at the top of Indian franchise cricket. A talented leg-spinner with lower-order batting ability, he did enough on the domestic circuit with Services to earn two auction bids. But with just one senior IPL appearance on record, his numbers tell a story of unfulfilled opportunity rather than established performance.

Who Is Mohit Rathee?
Mohit Rathee was born on 13 January 1999 in Rohtak, Haryana. He is a right-handed batter and a right-arm legbreak bowler who plays domestic cricket for Services. His first-class record is modest but genuine: 138 runs and 9 wickets in four matches, with a best of 69 with the bat. In T20 cricket he is used mainly as a bowling all-rounder who can contribute useful runs in the lower order.
Rathee first came to wider attention when Punjab Kings picked him up at the IPL 2023 mini auction for INR 20 lakh. He made his IPL debut in the fourth week of that season against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Coming in at number eleven with his side nine down, he batted through the remaining overs with Dhawan and later bowled two overs of leg-spin. He has not played another IPL match since.
Mohit Rathee IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | Punjab Kings | Bought at mini auction for INR 20 lakh; played 1 match |
| 2024 | None | Did not play; no franchise picked him |
| 2025 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | Bought at mega auction for INR 30 lakh; 0 matches played |
| 2026 | None | Released by RCB in November 2025; went unsold at the auction |
| 2027 | Not officially confirmed | Season has not started |
Rathee’s team journey reads like a case study in squad economics. Punjab Kings gave him his debut in 2023 but did not retain him. He sat out IPL 2024 entirely. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, then rebuilding for a title push, bought him cheaply at the 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, but the leg-spinner never made the matchday eleven during a season that ended with RCB lifting the trophy. The franchise released him in November 2025 along with players like Liam Livingstone and Lungi Ngidi, and no team bid for him at the IPL 2026 auction.

Rathee’s only IPL outing is still worth examining. Batting at number eleven, he faced two balls for an unbeaten single while Dhawan carried the innings to 99 not out. With the ball, he was given just two overs during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase of 144. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram targeted him in one over that went for 21, and he finished with 0 for 29. It was a harsh introduction: a young leg-spinner asked to defend a small total against set international batters, with no margin for error. The figures flatter no one, but two overs are no basis for judging a bowler.

Mohit Rathee IPL Highest Score
Rathee’s highest IPL score is 1 not out, made on debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 9 April 2023. Walking in with Punjab Kings at 88 for 9, he defended and rotated through the final overs while Dhawan farmed the strike. His contribution to the record 55-run tenth-wicket stand was just a single run off two balls, but the value of the knock was in its context: he stayed unbeaten and helped push Punjab past 140 on a difficult night.
Mohit Rathee IPL Wickets and Best Bowling
Rathee has not taken an IPL wicket. His only bowling figures in the league are 0 for 29 from two overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023, an economy rate of 14.50. As a leg-spinner, he was signed for his potential to turn the ball and pick up middle-over wickets, but he has never been given a second chance at the IPL level to show it.
Mohit Rathee IPL Batting Records
Rathee holds no individual IPL batting records. His 1 not out on debut is the only entry in his batting ledger, and he has no fifties or hundreds at this level.

Mohit Rathee’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is almost no performance data to analyse, and that is the honest truth about Mohit Rathee’s IPL career. One match, two balls faced, two overs bowled: the sample is too small to judge either his batting or his bowling. What can be said is that he has consistently been trusted by talent scouts, earning auction bids in 2023 and again in 2025, which suggests his domestic leg-spin is rated even if it has not translated to IPL game time.
The pattern of his career is common among uncapped Indian spinners. Franchises buy them cheaply as squad depth, and when the first-choice combination settles, they rarely rotate in a debutant leg-spinner for low-stakes experimentation. Rathee’s 2025 season with RCB is the clearest example: he watched from the bench while Krunal Pandya, Suyash Sharma, and the pace attack did the job. His release before IPL 2026 confirmed where he stood in the pecking order. For Rathee to return to the IPL, he will need a heavy domestic season with Services that forces franchises to look his way again.
