Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL Stats begin with one of the most memorable debuts in recent tournament history. An unsold name at the 2023 auction, the Karnataka pacer was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru as an injury replacement for Rajat Patidar in April 2023, and on his very first night in the league he produced 3 for 20 against Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was the kind of entrance that forces franchises to take notice, and it set the tone for a career built on new-ball swing, clever cutters and a willingness to bowl the hardest overs of a T20 innings.
Across four seasons with RCB and then Punjab Kings, Vyshak has taken 26 wickets in 26 IPL matches, and the trajectory has been upward: 2026 was his busiest campaign, with 10 matches for PBKS after a 1.80 crore retention. His economy rate sits above 10, but that number reflects his job description rather than a weakness. He bowls in the powerplay and at the death, where batters swing hardest, and captains keep returning to him because he takes wickets in those phases. With the IPL 2027 season yet to begin, Vyshak remains on Punjab’s books, and a bigger role could be on the cards if his 2026 form carries over.

Who Is Vyshak Vijaykumar?
Vyshak Vijaykumar was born on 31 January 1997 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. His cricketing story is unusual: he began as a batter and even captained Karnataka’s under-16 side, scoring a century at that level, before converting to medium pace under the guidance of coach Bharat Arun. The transformation came with a complete physical overhaul, and the results arrived quickly.
He moved through Karnataka’s ranks at speed, making his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on 24 February 2021, his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2021 and his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy in February 2022. In the 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy he finished among the leading wicket-takers with 15 scalps at an average of 12.2 and an economy of 6.31, and by the 2024-25 season he had passed 100 first-class wickets. That domestic weight of wickets earned him a maiden India T20I call-up for the tour of South Africa in late 2024, though he is yet to make his international debut.

Vyshak went unsold at the IPL 2023 auction, but RCB needed a replacement when Rajat Patidar was ruled out with injury, and they signed the Karnataka seamer on 7 April 2023. Eight days later he delivered the 3 for 20 on debut that made his name. RCB kept him for the 2024 season, but with only four appearances his chances were limited, and he was released ahead of the 2025 mega auction.
That release worked in his favour. At the mega auction, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings both bid for him, and PBKS won the contest at INR 1.80 crore, six times his INR 30 lakh base price. He played the 2025 season in Punjab colours as part of the squad that reached the final, and Punjab retained him for 2026 at the same price, handing him the busiest season of his IPL career. Heading into the IPL 2027 cycle, he remains a PBKS squad member, with the franchise’s official retention decisions yet to be announced.
Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL 2023 Stats
| Mat | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 24.0 | 253 | 9 | 3/20 | 28.11 | 10.54 |
The debut season remains his most famous. Brought in cold as a replacement, Vyshak struck with his very first opportunity: on 15 April 2023 against Delhi Capitals he took 3 for 20, removing David Warner, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav in a 23-run RCB win. Across seven matches he took nine wickets at an average of 28.11. The economy of 10.54 was high, but he was bowling difficult overs for a debutant, and the wicket-taking impact was exactly what RCB had hoped for from a replacement signing.
Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL 2024 Stats
| Mat | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 14.3 | 142 | 4 | 2/23 | 35.50 | 9.79 |
Retained by RCB for 2024, Vyshak found opportunities harder to come by in a settled attack. Four matches brought four wickets at an economy of 9.79, his best of the four seasons, with best figures of 2 for 23. It was a quiet year in terms of volume, but his control improved, and the underlying skill set that had impressed on debut was still evident whenever he got the ball.
Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL 2025 Stats
| Mat | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 17.0 | 181 | 4 | 2/44 | 45.25 | 10.65 |
The move to Punjab Kings brought a new role. Used at times as an impact substitute, Vyshak produced a telling death-overs spell against Gujarat Titans that helped PBKS win the match, a reminder of his value in the toughest phase of the innings. Five matches and four wickets look modest on paper, but his 2025 was about settling into a new franchise and a specialist role. He was part of the Punjab squad that went all the way to the final, and the franchise showed its faith by retaining him for 2026.
Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL 2026 Stats
| Mat | Overs | Runs | Wkts | BBI | Avg | Econ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 31.0 | 330 | 9 | 3/34 | 36.67 | 10.65 |
2026 was Vyshak’s breakthrough season in terms of trust: ten matches, the most he has played in a single IPL campaign, with nine wickets. The standout performance came against Gujarat Titans, where his 3 for 34, including the wickets of Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar and Shah Rukh Khan, ranked as the third-best bowling figures by a PBKS bowler against GT. Bowling alongside new-ball leader Arshdeep Singh and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the Punjab attack, he operated mainly in the middle and death overs under captain Shreyas Iyer. The season confirmed him as a regular member of Punjab’s pace plans rather than a fringe option.

Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL 2027 Team and Price

Batting is a minor part of Vyshak’s game. He has batted in only six of his 26 IPL innings, scoring 16 runs at a strike rate of 100, which underlines his specialist bowler’s role. His one six came in the 2023 season.
Vyshak Vijaykumar IPL Career Bowling Stats

| 26 | 25 | 86.3 | 906 | 26 | 3/20 | 34.85 | 10.47 | 19.96 | 0 | 0 |
The headline numbers tell a consistent story: 26 wickets from 26 matches at a strike rate of 19.96, almost exactly a wicket per game, with no four or five-wicket hauls. The average of 34.85 and economy of 10.47 mark him as a bowler trusted with attacking, high-risk overs rather than a containing role. His domestic T20 record for Karnataka is stronger, which is why franchises continue to back him despite the modest IPL economy.

Vyshak Vijaykumar’s IPL Performance Analysis
The numbers describe a bowler whose role has never been to keep things tight. Across four seasons, Vyshak has taken almost exactly one wicket per match while conceding above ten runs an over, which is the profile of a bowler trusted with the powerplay and the death. His best economy season was 2024 (9.79), but it came in only four matches; his busiest and most instructive season is 2026, when Punjab gave him ten games and he responded with nine wickets and his best PBKS figures.
The franchise move looks like the turning point. At RCB he was a replacement signing fighting for scraps in an established attack; at Punjab he has been deliberately retained, given the ball in high-leverage moments and paired with Arshdeep Singh and Yash Thakur in the Indian pace group. The concern is the economy: 10.65 in each of the last two seasons means he must keep taking wickets to justify his place. If his 2026 workload becomes the norm rather than the exception, he has a clear path to becoming Punjab’s first-choice Indian support seamer for the IPL 2027 season.
