Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL stats tell an unusual story: a player who earned an IPL contract without having played a first-class match, and who is still waiting for his first appearance in the tournament. The Punjab all-rounder was picked up by Punjab Kings at the IPL 2024 auction for INR 20 lakh, on the back of a 430-run season in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup. That remains his only IPL stint on the books, and he did not play a single match during it.
Punjab Kings released him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he was not picked up in that auction or ahead of the 2026 season. His IPL 2027 team and price are not officially confirmed yet, with the mini auction expected in December 2026. This page brings together his verified IPL record, his price history, and what his domestic form suggests about his chances of returning.

Who Is Vishwanath Pratap Singh?
Vishwanath Pratap Singh is an Indian domestic all-rounder from Jaipur, Rajasthan, born on 18 June 1998. He is a right-handed middle-order batter who can also bowl useful right-arm offbreaks, which is how the official IPL site classifies him as an all-rounder. He plays domestic cricket for Punjab, making his first-class debut in 2024.
His breakthrough came in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup in 2023, turning out for the JK Super Strikers. Across 11 matches he smashed 430 runs at a strike rate of 140.07, including a hundred, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. Punjab Kings noticed, and at the IPL 2024 auction they signed him for INR 20 lakh before he had even played a first-class game. Punjab Kings have kept his profile on their official Punjab Kings website, which describes him as a late bloomer with an attacking game built on strong back-foot play and the pull shot.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL Teams
| Season | Team | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Punjab Kings | Bought at auction for INR 20 lakh; did not play |
| 2025 | Released by Punjab Kings | Unsold at the mega auction |
| 2026 | No franchise | Not in any IPL squad |
| 2027 | To be confirmed | Not officially confirmed |
The pattern is simple and unforgiving. He was part of a Punjab Kings squad in 2024 that was then dismantled ahead of the 2025 mega auction, and he has not been back in the IPL since. Fellow members of that 2024 batch such as Ashutosh Sharma, Shashank Singh and Tanay Thyagarajan went different directions: Ashutosh and Shashank stayed relevant at Punjab, while Tanay and Prince Choudhary, like Singh, were let go. Singh remains outside the IPL circuit, which makes the next auction his clearest route back.

Singh spent IPL 2024 in the Punjab Kings squad without making it onto the field. It is not a rare fate for uncapped players bought cheaply at auction: squads carry developmental options, and the XI usually stays settled when results demand it. Punjab Kings had a crowded middle order that season, and the debut never came. His contract stood at INR 20 lakh regardless.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Punjab Kings retained only Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh and released the rest of the squad, including Singh. Harshal Patel, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran were among the higher-profile names let go in the same cleanout. Singh went unsold at the mega auction, so there are no IPL 2025 stats to record.

Singh did not return to the IPL for the 2026 season. Punjab Kings retained 21 players before that auction and bought four more, but he was not among them. He stayed active in domestic T20 cricket instead, turning out in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League in 2026, where his innings included a 41 off 32 against BTR and a 54 off 50 for the Intersoft Titans.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL 2027 Stats
IPL 2027 statistics are not available yet because the season has not started. His participation is not officially confirmed either: he is not currently attached to any franchise, and the IPL 2027 retention lists have not been announced. The tournament is expected to hold a mini auction in December 2026, which is his most realistic path back into the league.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL 2027 Team and Price
Neither his IPL 2027 team nor his price has been officially confirmed. He last held an IPL contract at INR 20 lakh with Punjab Kings in 2024. Whether he re-enters through the mini auction will depend on his domestic form and how franchises value an uncapped Indian all-rounder with a proven T20 scoring burst. Anything beyond that is speculation at this stage.

His right-arm offbreak has not been used in the IPL, and his bowling is best understood from domestic cricket. He is primarily a batting all-rounder, and the offbreak is a secondary skill that adds squad value rather than defining his role.

Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL Highest Score
He does not have an IPL highest score yet because he has not played an IPL match. His best domestic T20 batting, which is what earned him the contract, came in the 2023 Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup, where he scored 430 runs in 11 matches including a century.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL Wickets and Best Bowling
He has no IPL wickets or best bowling figures, having never played an IPL game. In domestic T20 cricket he has chipped in with offbreak wickets, including returns of 1 for 33 and 1 for 18 in recent Sher-E-Punjab T20 League matches, but that is a small sample from which to draw any IPL projection.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL Batting Records
There are no IPL batting records against his name. The numbers that matter from his career so far are domestic: the 430 runs at a 140.07 strike rate in the 2023 Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup, which made him the third-highest run-scorer of that tournament.

Vishwanath Pratap Singh IPL Records and Achievements
He has no IPL records or achievements to list. His notable achievement before the IPL was being picked up at the 2024 auction purely on domestic T20 form, before his first-class debut for Punjab later that year. A call-up to the IPL itself, for a player signed at base price from a state-level league, is the standout line on his CV so far.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh’s IPL Performance Analysis
There is no on-field IPL data to analyse, so the honest assessment is about the pattern rather than the numbers. Singh represents the long odds facing uncapped auction buys: a franchise spends a modest sum on a domestic prospect, the squad stays settled, and the debut never arrives. Punjab Kings’ decision to release almost their entire squad ahead of the 2025 mega auction closed that door, and two seasons later he is still outside the league.
His case is not unique, and the comparison with Ashutosh Sharma is instructive. Both were uncapped middle-order options bought by Punjab Kings in 2024, yet Ashutosh forced his way in and became a story of the season while Singh never got a game. That gap is what separates a breakthrough from a footnote. For Singh, the route back is straightforward in theory: pile up runs in domestic T20 cricket, the way he did in the 2023 Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup, and hope a franchise buys low at the next mini auction. Whether he gets picked remains to be seen.
