Yash Dhull’s IPL stats tell a story that is familiar in Indian cricket: a junior World Cup-winning captain still waiting for a proper run at the top level. More than four years after he led India to the Under-19 World Cup title, Dhull has played only four IPL matches, all for Delhi Capitals in 2023, scoring 16 runs with a highest score of 13. His league numbers are modest, but his domestic record paints a very different picture: 2,777 first-class runs at an average of 47.06 with nine hundreds, and a destructive Delhi Premier League 2026 campaign that put him back on the radar of IPL franchises.
With the IPL 2027 season yet to begin, Dhull’s IPL journey is on pause rather than over. He went unsold at the 2025 and 2026 auctions after two retention years with Delhi Capitals, but his DPL 2026 form, 410 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 214.66, has made him one of the most discussed names ahead of the next auction. This page tracks his complete IPL record, auction price history, and what his 2027 prospects look like.

Who Is Yash Dhull?
Yash Dhull is a right-handed top-order batter from New Delhi, born on 11 November 2002. He came into the national spotlight as captain of the India side that won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2022, scoring 229 runs in the tournament with a hundred and a fifty. His unbeaten 110 against Australia in the semi-final remains the defining knock of his junior career.
Domestically, Dhull has built a serious red-ball and white-ball resume. He has 2,777 first-class runs at an average of 47.06 with nine centuries and a highest score of 200, along with solid List A and T20 numbers for Delhi. A part-time right-arm off-spinner, he almost never bowls in competitive cricket and is listed purely as a batter. His game is built on strong technique against pace and the ability to accelerate once set, which is exactly what franchises look for in a young Indian top-order option.

Dhull has only ever been attached to one IPL franchise. Delhi Capitals picked him at the 2022 mega auction for INR 50 lakh on the back of his Under-19 World Cup heroics, retained him for 2023 and 2024, and then released him ahead of the 2025 mega auction. Since then he has been out of the league, but media reports have again linked Delhi Capitals with a possible move for him at the IPL 2027 auction after his outstanding DPL 2026 season.

Dhull was retained by Delhi Capitals for INR 50 lakh ahead of IPL 2024 but did not play a single match all season. With an experienced top order featuring David Warner, Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant, there was simply no opening in the XI for the young batter, and he spent the season on the bench.

Released by Delhi Capitals before the 2025 mega auction, Dhull went unsold and sat out the entire IPL 2025 season. It was a public setback for a player who had arrived in the league as a World Cup-winning captain, but he used the time away productively: he piled up 435 runs in the Delhi Premier League 2025 at a strike rate of 167.31, reminding franchises of his talent.

Dhull entered the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of INR 30 lakh and again found no takers. What followed, though, was arguably the best T20 form of his career. Captaining Central Delhi Kings in the Delhi Premier League 2026, he smashed 410 runs in nine innings as an opener at an average of 51.25 and a strike rate of 214.66, with 35 fours and 32 sixes, finishing among the tournament’s leading run-scorers. That campaign rebuilt his auction value and is the reason he is being talked about again ahead of 2027.

He is expected to go under the hammer at the IPL 2027 auction, with details of the IPL 2027 auction date and venue to be announced in due course. Yash Dhull IPL Highest Score
Yash Dhull’s highest IPL score is 13, made against Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 20 May 2023. Batting in Delhi Capitals colours, he faced 15 balls and struck one boundary before being caught off Ravindra Jadeja. His other two IPL innings that season were a 2 against Mumbai Indians and a 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which is why 13 remains his career best in the league.
Yash Dhull IPL Batting Records
Dhull does not yet hold any major IPL batting record. His four-match, 16-run career is the smallest sample among players who arrived in the league with his kind of reputation. His meaningful records sit outside the IPL: captaining India to the 2022 Under-19 World Cup title, scoring 229 runs in that tournament, nine first-class hundreds with a double century, and his 410-run DPL 2026 campaign at a strike rate of 214.66.

Yash Dhull’s IPL Performance Analysis
Judging Dhull on his IPL numbers alone would be harsh: 16 runs in three innings is not a career, it is a cameo. His 2023 chances came in a struggling Delhi Capitals side, and scores of 2, 1 and 13 against quality attacks say more about the difficulty of breaking through as a 20-year-old than about his ability. The more honest reading is that the league moved on from him before he had a chance to show anything.
The interesting part of his story is what happened after the IPL door closed. His DPL 2025 tally of 435 runs at 167.31 showed intent, and his DPL 2026 season, 410 runs at 214.66 as an opener, showed genuine T20 power-hitting that his IPL numbers never hinted at. Combined with a first-class average of 47.06 built over nine hundreds, the evidence says this is a proper batter whose IPL sample is simply too small to trust. If he gets picked at the IPL 2027 auction, his second stint in the league will be a test of whether that domestic form travels.
